Find St. Bernard News Mugshots

Crime news in St. Bernard Parish comes from several directions. The Sheriff's Office puts out releases, the District Attorney posts court updates, two local newspapers run arrest coverage, regional TV picks up bigger stories, and unofficial arrest sites publish their own material. Not every source shows booking photos, and none covers the same time window. Think of a news story as a starting point. To get the full picture, trace the named event to current custody, the booking record, the court case, and how it ended.

Official St. Bernard Crime News

Start with the officials. The SBSO latest-news page posts selected enforcement stories and public-safety announcements, while the SBSO news-release archive keeps older wanted and arrest material. Neither works as a same-day booking feed. A major investigation may get a full release while routine bookings never make the news at all.

The District Attorney shows the court side. Its Magistrate Court and Bond Settings page typically covers arrests and hearings from the past few days, and a social-media digest collects selected court posts. That pairing can connect an arrest to a first appearance or a bond amount. Coverage is selective, though, so plenty of people booked into St. Bernard Parish Prison never appear there.

LA VINE answers a different question entirely. It shows who is in custody right now and can send alerts when that status changes. For a side-by-side look at these different time windows, the St. Bernard Parish booking and feed treatment compares them directly.

St. Bernard News Source Map

Local coverage splits into official, journalistic, and commercial sources. The "Photos?" column below describes what an image might be, not a promise that it is a booking photograph. Agency portraits, scene shots, court graphics, and thumbnails all circulate in news stories. Label them for what they are.

St. Bernard Arrest Report Archives

The St. Bernard News arrest category is the deepest parish-local inventory around. Its dated "Arrest Reports" sort entries by area: Arabi, Chalmette, Meraux, Poydras, Violet, and Outside. A July 9, 2025 report used that batch format for names, addresses, and charge descriptions. A May 21, 2025 report followed the same pattern. Helpful as the headings are, a weekly post is still not a booking log.

The paper went digital-only on March 26, 2025. Because categories shift and older reports sink deeper into the digital archives, always note the article date and headline. Someone can sit in an old report long after release. Save the category URL along with the individual article. For current custody, go to LA VINE; for charges, follow the case into court.

The St. Bernard Voice is a separate weekly. A stable September 6, 2024 issue PDF carried a "For the Record" section listing August 23 arrests, along with a warning that transcribed material can carry human or mechanical errors. That dated PDF served as the stable reference because the live domain was unreliable. The paper's own caution points readers back to official records, which is exactly the right move when a name, date, address, or charge differs between publications.

The St. Bernard News report capture below shows the dated batch format in action.

Regional St. Bernard Arrest Stories

FOX 8 and WDSU cover selected events with regional news value. Examples found concerned a stolen vehicle, drugs, a narcotics investigation, and gun allegations. Such stories may add agency quotes, scene details, and the sequence alleged in a release. They are event coverage, not parish arrest feeds.

A story may use an agency image, scene photograph, video still, social graphic, or file image. Check the caption and credit before calling it a mugshot. NOLA.com’s crime section is another regional lead, but it was not a dependable parish-specific roster during research. Search by exact name, agency, and date, then return to primary records.

How St. Bernard Photos Reach News

SBSO releases photos sometimes. It publishes them with announcements or fills focused records requests, always under state law and its exemptions. Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure Article 234, amended by 2024 Act 281, defines booking photographs and regulates remove-for-pay publication. The amendment dropped earlier dissemination limits. Still, no law guarantees a photo for every local request. Louisiana Revised Statutes 44:3 lets agencies withhold material when release would compromise an investigation or expose protected information.

Newsrooms get images three ways. An agency hands one over, a records request produces one, or a story reuses a photo from an earlier announcement. Plenty of stories run with no booking image at all. A focused SBSO request should state the full name and arrest date, then ask whether a releasable booking photograph exists. Call Criminal Records and Reports at (504) 278-7726. One caution applies here. An outlet publishing a photo says nothing about whether the image or the charges stayed current.

Unofficial St. Bernard Mugshot Sources

Commercial arrest sites rank last, behind SBSO, LA VINE, the DA, and court records. Each site sets its own rules. None supplies a final disposition by default. Treat them as leads only. No gallery or name list from those sites appears here.

  • Busted Newspaper has copied fields and photos where supplied. It is paginated and time-variable, not a live official count.
  • RecentlyBooked claims a rolling view of about 30 days, refreshed several times daily, but says St. Bernard does not provide mugshot images. Counts changed across checks.
  • Mugshots.com holds an older archive, mainly dated 2012 through 2019. It is not current.
  • Arre.st exposed an older indexed path, but retrieval was inconsistent. Treat it as stale.
  • JailExchange is a directory pointing toward official sources, not an official jail database.

Unofficial sites come and go. Some neighboring parish pages get mistaken for St. Bernard coverage, and a few local-looking arrest sites never name who runs them or how often they refresh. Treat any page without a clear custodian with caution. The RecentlyBooked parish view is one example of how these unofficial galleries typically present booking photos and names pulled from public data.

St. Bernard News Time Windows

"Recent" means different things to different sites. LA VINE tracks current custody and refreshes roughly every half hour. Bond lists from the DA tend to cover a two-to-four day span. St. Bernard News posts batches that carry their own dates. RecentlyBooked keeps a rolling window of about 30 days, while Busted Newspaper often lags behind. So a name on one site and missing from another is not a contradiction; it just reflects each source's clock.

Trace St. Bernard News to Court

Accuracy improves after booking. Follow the event across sources without assuming the first charge remained unchanged.

  1. Save the headline, outlet, date, exact reported name, and arresting agency. Treat charges as charges.
  2. Search St. Bernard LA VINE for current custody and note access time. Absence does not erase an arrest.
  3. Request the booking record from SBSO when identity, date, or the original charge needs confirmation.
  4. Check DA bond posts and docket material for the bridge from arrest to hearing.
  5. Use Clerk criminal eSearch or the Clerk office for the case number, minutes, and disposition. Online access needs an account and may involve subscription and image fees.
  6. Read the final event. Dismissal, reduction, plea, trial result, or another disposition cannot be inferred from a headline.

The DA docket and the court-date lookup show defendant names, case numbers, hearing dates, and divisions. Criminal matters for the parish belong to the 34th Judicial District Court, and the Clerk of Court keeps the filed records. This solves a common puzzle. Someone appears in an older arrest report but not the current roster, often because a release changed custody before the case finished. If no case matches, try alternate spellings and allow for filing delays. Some records are protected, too.

Chalmette, Meraux, and Violet all feed one parish booking system. No separate municipal databases exist. A report may carry a town label, but custody runs through St. Bernard Parish Prison. For a closer look at the parish seat, the Chalmette busted mugshots page offers a local path.
